across disciplines, work driven by questions

  • Cinema

The medium is a cross-disciplinary melding of many creative outlets. What are the roots of improvisation in the brain? How can I show unseen rituals of inspiring people? Can a documentary be just as intentional visually as a narrative film? Can light itself be a character in nonfiction cinema?

  • Coffee Innovation

I’ve had the good fortune of exploring many layers of the coffee industry, driven by questions like: What would it look like to remove all single-use disposables from a shop? Can you run a high end coffee bar without a menu? Is it possible to take the physics of espresso and make it in batches?

  • Industrial Design

Every decision made in a space changes how someone experiences it. My questions have included: How do I take away all barriers between barista and guest? What would chromed taps look like coming out of reclaimed wood? Can we create an espresso bar without an espresso machine?

Rhythms

An Indivisible Marathon Swim

I recently completed this short film, part of my Rhythms series for Frequency Media, which is all about the unseen rituals of inspiring people. This features the story of Chef Matthew Biancaniello as he embarks on a 21 mile swim to raise money for the incredible nonprofit, Indivisible Arts.
